The partnership between the Gibraltar-based digital payment company Wave Crest and Visa is no longer. The credit card provider has terminated its contract with Wave Crest. In other words, cryptocurrency card will no longer be provided to customers.

As a result, TenX, Xapo, Coins.ph, Bitwala, BitPay and CryptoPay users cannot proceed their cryptocurrency payments any longer. The crackdown between Wave Crest and Visa has had a major impact on transactions. Every debit card containing tokens issued or managed by Visa has been disabled. Visa’s decision to disrupt its partnership with Wave Crest had put on hold cryptocurrency payments on the above-mentioned platforms.

The official statement by the company explains that Wave crest did not comply with Visa standards and operating rules. The fact that Visa is no longer on the list of Wave Crest members will not affect customers who use fiat money in any way. Even users who convert cryptos to traditional money won’t suffer, according to official representatives.

Nevertheless, millions of Xapo, TenX, Bitwala and BitPay users have had their cryptocurrency debit cards deactivated. Head of Xapo Debit Card, Anni Rautio, announced that the company is working on finding ways to cope with the problem. Alternative solutions include potential card issuers, willing to dive into the world of digital money.

Other debit card providers also expressed their desire to satisfy customers’ needs and demands. Furthermore, all of them seem optimistic about finding a satisfying solution.

Fortunately, Visa’s unexpected move did not catch the cryptocurrency industry off guard. Since January 4, no significant changes in prices have occurred. The only exception was TenX’s own cryptocurrency, which revolves around the debit card ventures of the company. Apart from that, neither Bitcoin nor Altcoins have faced large-scale downfalls.

The drama between Wave Crest and Visa only goes to show that the market is not dependent on certain companies. On the other hand, investors are unwilling to cooperate at any price. We are looking closely at the situation.
