It has come to attention that some websites are running cryptocurrency miners secretly. This has led to the Internet domain provider Cloudflare to start on the operation that will crackdown all these websites. The news came to light recently when ProxyBunker who are the main operators of these websites revealed the news to the TorrentFreak that Cloudflare has taken on the action to eliminate the services of currently operating domains as they had noticed a code that was operating on the website which was used to hide the minor operating websites.
ProxyBunker who is one of the portals to the torrent sites were operating the Coinhive Monero miner close to four days before they were suspended. Justin Paine who is currently the head of trust and safety at the Cloudflare domain provider told the ProxyBunker that they had decided to take action as a result of an investigation carried out which determined that the miners were operated illegally and in secret and providing no options to the visitors of the websites to disable the codes. This is against the terms of any credible website that has all the legal rights to undertake their business thus such content that has no user control is considered as spam and cannot be allowed to continue.
These website miners tap the processing power of the visitors who come to the website and starts mining cryptocurrencies without their knowledge. This crime has taken root in recent days, and it was the same case where Pirate Bay had decided to launch a Web-based miner which was later shut down following users complains. Many companies like the showtime had been operating mining malware secretly and stealing processing power from users who were unaware. Though this made some operators unhappy, miners will have to find a noble financing method to continue their services. Some torrent websites like the PassThePopcorn would release a software option to fund their services.
