The All-Russia People`s Front (ONF) led by President Vladimir Putin has officially proposed the creation of a “green cryptocurrency” promoting green energy and the development of environmental projects.

The proposal was reportedly submitted amidts moves by the Russian government to prepare new regulations with reference to the trade and exchange of cryptocurrencies, as coindesk.com reported

“We want the units of the cryptocurrency to be received by investors and enterprises that promote the development of environmental technologies”, stated Dmitry Mironov, one of the ONF leaders as quoted by coindesk.com.

“In our proposals, we will reflect our vision of the development of the green cryptocurrency in the country and we hope that the initiatives of the Popular Front will be included in the final version of the bill being drafted by the government.”, as he elaborated.

On September 5, Igor Shuvalov, First Deputy Prime Minister in Russia, reportedly said that the government will soon start discussing the regulation of cryptocurrencies. The statement was made on the Eastern Economic Form, as cryptocoinnews.com wrote in their publication on the subject.

As for the initiative for green cryptocurrencies, it was first introduced by the ONF at the All-Russia Youth Educational Forum in Crimea.

“The rush to virtual money is not a fad or a fleeting phenomenon. The virtualisation of our lives is a market process that has gone on and will continue.”, commented Dmitry Marinichev, one of Russia`s leading crypto-businessmen who spoke to Phys.Org (phys.org).

However, in the recent days Russian officials have issued warnings on cryptocurrency investment, as coindesk.com wrote.
