As we reported, Cheollima Civil Defense (CCD) is already selling post-liberation blockchain visas to everyone willing to visit North Korea, once it is liberated. The organization has sold over 60 Ethereum-based visas so far. Notably, they are already put up for sale on the black market.

The North Korean dissidents strive to overthrow Kim Jong-un and in order to do that they have turned towards distributed ledger technologies. They are funding their initiative by selling 200,000 G-VISAs.

The group shared a statement:

“We are experiencing unforeseen heavy traffic on servers hosting the G-Visa registration and will delay by 12 hours to 9:00AM KST, 8:00PM EST in order to give the staff time to deploy additional infrastructure. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Strangely, CCD asks potential buyers to type their private keys in the form on their website. This is a red sign to anyone with some experience in cryptocurrencies. Just as CCD is supposedly fighting for human rights it could be as well a well-disguised scam. Never ever enter your private keys online as you run the risk of giving up control over your funds.

Now that early adopters have acquired their new G-VISAs, some of them have decided to sell them for profit on the black market. While the original price is 1 ETH (roughly $135), the number-nine VISA is up for sale for double the price – $270 (2 ETH). If you think that’s expensive, the price for the number-three VISA is the staggering $40,000. We highly doubt it someone would pay that much to visit North Korea.

CCD has sold 64 VISAs to 48 individuals. Notably, 62 of them are already auctioned, which makes us think that nobody takes the dissidents seriously. They, however, took time to open up about this phenomenon:

“G-Visas are not a speculative token. If you are not concerned with having a lower numbered G-Visa please delay acquiring one until tomorrow. Being among the very first 200,000 visitors to our liberated nation is already historic. These first few will have permanent proof of their initial faith and support of our revolution.”
