IBM has reportedly launched its IBM Blockchain Founder Accelerator. The company has spent more than a year of working on blockchain R & D. While 400 clients have enrolled since IBM first began its blockchain initiatives last February, just a dozen active networks are said to be operational, as IBM`s VP of blockchain technologies, Jerry Cuomo, said in an interview with coindesk.com.
There are too many companies interested in blockchain technology. Still, only a limited number of somewhat veteran professionals can help assist in the lauch of real live networks, as Cuomo explained.
“There’s more interest than there’s people to go around. The best thing we can do for our community is to have more live networks. Graduating them through quicker will make sure the practices will get reflected back to everyone.”, he stated.
The service is expected to sit on top of IBM`s Bluemix Garage, an offering that has prompted the company to open in-person facilities for client engagement on distributed ledger technology. The IBM Blockchain Founder Accelerator is a valuable addition that tries to establish contact between serious builders and more specialized support, as Cuomo elaborated on the service.
“The program provides one-on-one mentorship and support by network founders and technologists across a range of needs such as business case development, network membership incentives, technical development, governance and legal issues.”, as IBM wrote in an official press release quoted by the article.
It is further explained that eight founders will be selected for the program. They will have access to workshops and bootcamps, as well founder mentors and specific blockchain technology solutions that IBM has built in collaborative projects over the last year. Some of these services include a document storage solution, an asset provenance tracker and an identity onboarding tool.
Cuomo concluded that scholarship and financial support may be available to selected applicants, while the program will have tiered access that makes pricing more flexible.
