Deloitte, a professional services company, announced that they are opening an EMEA Financial Services Blockchain Lab in Dublin, Ireland.

The company plans to gather a team of 50 experts over 18 months to reside in the newly established Dublin center. The specialists the company is looking for should have experience in blockchain development and design, according to Deloitte`s press release.

The team will deal with developing strategic blockchain capabilities and proof-of-concepts into working prototypes to introduce “ready to integrate” solutions for financial services customers.

The company has already worked with Bank of Ireland to conduct a joint proof-of-concept pilot that benefits from blockchain technology and the bank`s existing systems. The product claims to provide next generation client experience and regulatory oversight at a lower cost.

Blockchain technology is disrupting the financial services industry for the better when it comes to transparency, efficiency, and improving trust”, commented David Dalton, Head of Financial Services at Deloitte Ireland, who is also a co-lead partner of the lab.

He added that there is significant demand from clients who seek to use blockchain technology to speed up payments and transfer clearances, settlements, reconciliations, digital identities, and many other use cases. Commenting further, Dalton stated that the blockchain lab aims to improve the existing capabilities and lift blockchain use to a new level.

“Blockchain’s scope is huge and requires dedicated focus and time to research how best it can be used to build practical applications. This blockchain lab, we believe, will be an integral part of driving Deloitte’s offering in this area.”, said Paolo Gianturco, Partner in Milan and co-lead of the lab, Deloitte.

The subject is to be followed, as the new lab can bring new blockchain services that can be used by a range of financial technology executives and businesses. Check out Deloitte`s video that provides an inside look at the Deloitte EMEA Blockchain Hub.
