Professional services company Deloitte has announced its joining two of the world`s biggest consortiums related to blockchain technology.
Deloitte is now an official member of both the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance and the Hyperledger project. According to the online media, the first consortium launched in February to promote corporate use of the ethereum blockchain, while Hyperledger, which officially started in 2015, is supported by the Linux Foundation and leading companies like IBM, JPMorgan and the London Stock Exchange.
Deloitte`s principal Eric Piscini spoke to coindesk.com:
“We’ve done projects on Hyperledger and ethereum for a long time. What’s new to us is we want to be part of those organizations and structure. We want to drive some of the activities in the consortium.”
So, in his words, it was more of a formalization of existing relationships rather than starting a completely new project.
The company`s goal is to play a role in shaping these technologies and the way they can be used for businesses. As Piscini explained, the general sentiment in the blockchain community is that the entire industry needs to launch projects that demonstrate the real-world use of the technology.
“Our client is not looking for Hyperledger or ethereum. They’re looking for something that’s working.”, as he said.
Still, with this move the company is not trying to answer client demand, as he said.
