The messaging app with Japanese origin, Line, is reported to be the latest public company that considers launching its own cryptocurrency.

The company is already offering mobile payment service, Line Pay. One of its features is a virtual currency that is used to buy content on their platform, as well as for social games.

As Bloomberg reported, Line is currently talking with some potential partners like the bitcoin exchange Upbeat. The goal is to make its products even more user-friendly.

The company claims that its price share rose with 10 percent on the Japanese market, but it is still to be seen how the company will benefit from blockchain technology. For example, Line could implement attention-based tokens or the blockchain technology to reward users for using the messenger, playing Line`s games and for making payments through Line Pay.

Other companies like the Canadian messenger Kin that claims to have 15 million monthly users held a $100 million ICO last September, according to Tech Crunch. The goal was to boost the creation of an ecosystem that rewards users, content marketers and advertisers for their “attention”. Another platform Telegram is also planning an ICO.
