Venture capitalist Bill Tai has reportedly joined the renewable marketplace Power Ledger as an ambassador for the Australian company.
The Silicon Valley-based investor is a co-creator of the Blockchain Summit, which was recently hosted on Sir Richard Branson`s private retreat, Necker Island, as cryptocoinnews.com reported.
While at the Summit, Tai said he would become an ambassador for Power Ledger:
“Power Ledger is a standout among the companies at our gathering, solving a real problem in an enormous market.”, as he commented.
Power Ledger co-founder and chair Jemma Green was also at the Summit, where she spoke about her company and the way they use the blockchain for the decentralization of energy systems.
“Jemma and her team have shown the world how blockchain based technology can be applied to create liquidity and efficiency in the renewable energy markets with a solution that can be truly transformative.”, added Tai.
Dr Jemma Green answered that it was extremely exciting to have Tai as a member of the team.
“To have someone of Bill’s calibre as an ambassador within the team, will really help bring about change on a global scale. Having Bill on board is a big win for us and we’re looking forward to an exciting year ahead.”
Power Ledger claims to allow for each unit of electricity to be tracked from the point of generation to the point of consumption within the building it is generated.
The company gathers together energy industry professionals, sustainability leaders, disruptors, developers and innovators.
“It is a team with technical expertise, commercial acumen, regulatory knowledge and a relentless passion to revolutionise the energy sector for the benefit of consumers, producers and distributors.”, as they wrote on their website powerledger.io.
