The Spanish bank BBVA is to let its Spanish customers access financial information via Facebook and Telegram, while allowing them to make payments using a new WhatsApp tool.
BBVA is reportedly trying to make it easier for customers who use social networks. With the new solution, they will be able to make transaction on social media.
According to fintechextra`s report, around 86% of Spanish internet users are using Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, Twitter or Instagram at least once a day.
The new chatbot is said to allow customers to view financial information such as their availability balance, their IBANs, or the remaining credit on their cards. All this will be available within Telegram or Facebook Messenger.
“For Messenger, customers need only find the @bbva_espana link or go directly to BBVA Spain, while in order to obtain access via Telegram, they can seek out the @bbva_esp_bot contact.”, as the article of finextra.com explained.
On the other hand, the new Cashup tool enables customers who has registered on the Bizum payment service to send money to any contact instantly without even leaving the chat. It is to be possible on WhatsApp, Telegram, Hangouts, Messenger and other messaging apps.
It is interesting to observe whether other big banks will implement similar services. Another question that arises whether they are secure enough.
