The first edition of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) FinTech conference will take place in Bahrain. The event will focus on discussing the challenges and opportunities presented by the financial technology sector.

The host will be Arab Financial Services (AFS), an electronic payment processor based in Bahrain. The sponsors are Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), a government agency overseeing economic development strategy in the country, and the Arab Banking Corporation (ABC) that is also based in Bahrain, reported Trade Arabia (tradearabia.com).

“AFS is already a key player in providing new FinTech services and we have already introduced several innovations such as the first frictionless payment solution, in partnership with Batelco and Ithmaar Bank, in addition to Data Analytics, Loyalty, m-Commerce and e-Commerce solutions. We look forward to working with other local and regional organizations to introduce FinTech based solutions in the region”, said B Chandrasekhar, chief executive officer of AFS.

The forum`s theme is “Fintech Disruption in the Financial Industry”. It is expected that the event will provide excellent networking opportunities for industry experts and key stakeholders. The program includes panel discussions on the move towards cashless economy, regional FinTech opportunities, signs and measures of success, disruptive innovations in the financial industry and others.

“FinTech is an innovative and fast-growing sector presenting tremendous opportunities. This event will allow us to understand and analyse the FinTech revolution and help us position Bahrain as a leader in the journey towards a digital, cashless economy”, as Chandrasekhar said in an interview with Trade Arabia.
