Alibaba, a Chinese company dealing with commerce, cloud computing, digital media and entertainment, has reportedly collaborated with a Chinese city government to work on the potential blockchain application to the healthcare sector.
Alibaba Health Information Technology Ltd., or Ali Health will join forces with the government of the city of Changzhou in eastern China to trial medical treatment applications, according to Yicai Global (yicaiglobal.com) and cryptocoinnews.com.
“The blockchain pilot for Changzhou’s medical treatment systems is the first blockchain application based on medical treatment scenarios in China.”, as Liu Tie, technical leader of Ali Health’s blockchain technology, told Yicai.
Using blockchain technology can help authorized doctors to quickly learn about a patient`s medical history, as Liu reportedly said. This could make treatment faster and cheaper, as the publication speculated.
“Ali Health’s blockchain technology connects information by using our current equipment and systems.”, said Zhang Zhihong, director at Zhenglu Town Health Center in Changzhou, while speaking to Yicai.
“It is cost effective and safe. With blockchain, health centers and district hospitals are interconnected so that the people can enjoy convenient medical services.”, as he elaborated in his comments.
Ali Health will set up security nets in relation to the project. The data will be stored and transferred in ciphertext with strict access controls and operational privileges, as the article added.
Ali Health is Alibaba Group`s platform that addresses the problems in the healthcare sector. At the moment, Ali Health tries to solve problems in medical e-commerce, smart medical treatments and product tracing, as the report explained.
